LIVERMORE — The Boy Scout camp on Long Pond hosted Cub Scout Pack 599’s annual Advancement Ceremony on June 5. Family and friends gathered to take part in the ceremony which marks the end of scouts yearlong journey to attain rank.

In addition to receiving their rank badges, the scouts were presented beads, patches and other awards for completing scouting activities. Prior to the ceremony, the scouts took part in various activities including a nature walk with a representative from the Maine Forest Service, a leave no trace presentation by Scout Master Rick Merrill, an obstacle course, crafts and a kick ball game.

The scouts will hold a bottle drive on Saturday, July 10, as an ongoing effort to raise money for a new Pinewood Derby track. Containers will be set up around town and there will be a door to door effort. For bottle pick up, contact Frank Coates at 897-4229.
