There are some things you just don’t want to see, one of them being a full-grown man taking a bath in a public fountain.

Yet, there he was last Friday morning, a bather in the Courthouse Plaza fountain. The man told a Sun Journal photographer that he alternates between that plaza and Festival Plaza in Auburn.

Perhaps the fountain at Raymond Park doesn’t lend itself to bathing. It’s certainly not modesty keeping this man from shampooing his hair in the most prominent intersection in town.

Police told the Sun Journal that there is no law against showering in a fountain, and anyone caught doing so would likely get a trespass warning

However, since children are encouraged to wade in the Festival Plaza fountain and play in the water jets, the trespass violation might not be enough.

If the warnings don’t work, a specific ordinance may be necessary.

Let’s nip this in the bud before we have men in bathrobes, towels over shoulders, traipsing down Lisbon Street to shave and shower.
