OTISFIELD — Three area students have been awarded $1,500 scholarships for the 2010-11 college year by the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church.

The recipients are Kristina M. Donnellan, Amanda Grace Dyer and Megan Elizabeth Wandishin.

Donnellan attends Curry College in Milton, Mass., and is the daughter of Denise and James Donnellan of Otisfield.

Dyer attends the University of Maine at Farmington. She is the daughter of Deborah and Gary Dyer of Otisfield.

Wandishin will attend Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., in the fall. She is the daughter of Betsy Wandishin of Casco and Ted Wandishin of Portland.

The East Otisfield Free Baptist Church awards college scholarships each year. Money is raised for the scholarships through craft, white elephant, bake and plant sales, as well as donations.

The late Rev. Gertrude DeCoteau and Marian Culbert created the annual scholarship more than 20 years ago. They recognized that students with dreams of a college education needed help. Through the years, students receiving the awards have attended and graduated from such schools as Maine Maritime, University of Maine at Farmington, Curry College, Franklin Pierce College and Gettysburg College.

Students with family connections to the church are invited to submit an application. Applications are available at or church or by calling 539-2241. Applications are due by April 15 of each year.
