The General George Armstrong Custer Post 7 Grand Army of the Republic Association recently held decoration day ceremonies at the grave site of Stephen L.T. Marriner in Riverside Cemetery, who died as a prisoner of war on Dec. 1, 1864, in the Confederate Prison, Salisbury, S.C. His tombstone is located in “Old Soldier’s Field,” next to the tombstone of his father, whose tombstone was broken by unknown vandals recently. The program included singing, an invocation and readings. Pictured, from left, are Larry Mayes, Jerry DerBoghosian, Ronald Arneault; missing from picture, Lorna Jollymore and Margaret Sjostrom.
