BETHEL — As has been the tradition for 50 years, a Miss Mollyockett has been chosen to preside over the Mollyockett Days festivities. Ashley Swan, daughter of Ross and Becky Swan, submitted an essay that convinced the selection committee that she is a great candidate for the position.

Candidates were asked to submit an essay on the theme of “What serving my community means to me.” The committee reviewed the submitted essays without knowing the identity of the candidates.

Of particular interest is that Ashley Swan is the great-granddaughter to one of the event founders, Norma Jodrey. She is the granddaughter of Ellie and Arlan Jodrey of Bethel and Hugh and Denise Swan of Greenwood. She will be a senior at Gould Academy in the fall.
