LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County community came out to support the Child Health Center’s Big Brothers Big Sisters annual Bowl For Kids Sake event. In partnership with local businesses and individual bowlers, Bowl For Kids Sake raised more than $59,000 to support their mentoring programs.

The proceeds from the event will be used to support the more than 300 one-to-one matches in the community and site-based programs, which includes six after-school programs in Androscoggin County.

Bowl For Kids Sake prizes were awarded to top team and individual bowlers who raised the most pledge money. The Top Team prize went to the FIS Turkey Hunters, which included Cam Taylor, Kathy Taylor, Ron Giroux and Pam Guerin. Individual prizes were awarded to: first place, Denise Blanchette; second place, Melanie Harkins; and third place, Jenna Chase.

For every $100 raised in pledge money, individual bowlers were given a grand prize ticket to be entered into a drawing for a flat screen high-definition television. The grand prize winning ticket holder was Trisha Hodgkins of Lewiston, who bowled with Northeast Bank.
