The following local students received diplomas at the annual commencement exercises on May 16 at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.:

Chelsea L. Gerard of Poland graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. She is the daughter of Laurie and Kim Gerard and a graduate of Poland Regional High School.

Gerard received the outstanding researcher award for the chemistry department for 2009-10.

Malley W. O’Shea of Livermore graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in advertising. She is the daughter of Annie and Dan O’Shea and a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School.

O’Shea’s activities at Susquehanna included Lambda Pi Eta communications honor society and Public Relations Student Society of America. She graduated magna cum laude. Following graduation, O’Shea plans to pursue a career in public relations.
