GREENE — The Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will provide the Children’s Day program Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial.

Founded in 2000, the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers is a small troupe based in Bar Harbor made up of three siblings: Erik, Brian and Robin Torbeck. They have performed at fairs, festivals, theaters, parades, schools, libraries, and some of the finest petting zoos on the East Coast. All of the shows are written by the siblings and are performed with their handmade puppets.

The show, “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow” is a comedic version of the classic Washington Irving tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Based loosely on the original story, the performance involves a bumbling Headless Horseman, his wisecracking horse, the meat-head Brom Bones, the lovely Katrina Van Tassel, her rich father, and the mild-mannered and lovable protagonist, Ichabod Crane.

Ichabod befriends the hapless, headless ghoul and advises him in the search for a suitable replacement head. Meanwhile, a jealous Brom Bones tries to run Ichabod out of town while they both vie for the affections of Katrina.

The show will be presented at 2 p.m. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Sawyer Memorial is at 371 Sawyer Road. For more information, call 946-5311 or visit www.sawyer-foundation.com.
