NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Gerard Louis “Yankee” Dumeny, 80, of Sherwood, Ark., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8, in North Little Rock, Ark.

He was born in New Sharon, June 11, 1930, to Walter Joseph and Mary Cecelia Bingham Dumeny. Gerard worked with the Arkansas Highway Department for 37 years and also worked as a volunteer fireman with the Sylvan Hills Fire Department for more than 30 years.

When he wasn’t working you could always find Gerard creating something special while enjoying his woodworking hobby. Gerard was also an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Little Rock.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gracie Thornton Dumeny; two sons, Randall L. Dumeny (Pamela) of El Paso, Ark., and Joseph G. Dumeny (Debbie) of Cabot, Ark.; one daughter, Sharon Auffet (Mike) of Grapevine, Texas; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Kolreg of Enfield, Conn.; four brothers, John (Jan) Dumeny of Winterhaven, Fla., Marvin Dumeny of Florida, Melvin (Judy) Dumeny of Enfield, Conn., and Roger (Lou) Dumeny of Enfield Conn.; in addition to his loving dog, Drake.

Gerard was predeceased by his parents; his two daughters, Cheryl Ann Dumeny and Cecelia Buck; in addition to his two brothers, Tommy and Walter Dumeny.
