Benefit softball tourney planned

A one-pitch softball tournament to benefit Kyle Dolloff, who suffered an ATV accident, is being announced. The tournament will take place Sept. 11 at the Mexico Recreation Park.

Cost is $10 per person, and can be any combination of men and women, as it is strictly to benefit Kyle and have fun. No prizes will be awarded to tournament winner. Maine champs raising funds

The 2010 Maine ASA co-ed adult softball state champions are looking to raise funds for a trip to the national tournament in Canton, Ohio later this August. The team is offering a 50/50 raffle and other prize raffles during the team fundraider, being held at the Olde Mill Tavern in Harrison on Sunday, Aug. 22 from 1-3 p.m. Prize drawings will take place at 3 p.m.

Junior Black Bear softball tryouts on tap

The Frozen Ropes Baseball and Softball Training Center will be conducting tryouts for their Junior Black Bear 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U travel softball teams on August 22. The tryouts will be held at the Springbrook Park in Scarborough off the Broadturn Rd. 12U and 14U tryouts will be at 9 a.m., 14U at 11:30 a.m. and the 18U tryout will be at 1:30 p.m.
