State officials Thursday released the names of two people involved in a floatplane mishap on Brandy Pond in Naples on Sunday.

Pilot Joseph Dole, 67, and and co-pilot Mary Build, 66, sustained nonlife-threatening injuries in the crash. The two were practicing landings and takeoffs with a new, eight-passenger sightseeing plane.

Build declined to comment earlier in the week when contacted by the Sun Journal. Both Dole and Build are Naples residents, said Maj. Dale Lancaster of the Maine State Police.

Build is the owner of the aircraft, which she said Monday was in the process of being repaired. The plane was flying from the Brandy Pond Seaplane Base, which is owned and operated by James Build, according to Federal Aviation Administration online records.

State Police Trooper Steven Green said Sunday the accident occurred as the two were landing the plane. They had been practicing with the new aircraft throughout the day and were on their last landing, Green said.
