RANGELEY — Carolyn “Lynnie” Knight Raymond, 72, of Oquossoc Avenue, Rangeley, died unexpectedly at her home in Rangeley, with her daughter at her side.

She was born a twin in Farmington, Aug. 2, 1938, a daughter of Wendell and Ruth Knight Brewster. She received her education in Phillips schools and on June 13, 1990, received her GED, the same day as her son, Craig.

On Dec. 4, 1955, she married Charles Raymond in Eustis. Mrs. Raymond worked in the telephone office in Rangeley for several years and then worked in the hospitality industry for many years, having been employed at Doc Grant’s, The People’s Choice, Farmington Irving’s, and Family Fare in Farmington. In her later years, she worked as a caregiver to elderly folks in the Rangeley area, especially “Dot” Kidder and Irene Brackett.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, attended TOPS, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and puzzles. She was one of Rangeley Lakers biggest high school basketball fans, seldom missing a ball game. She loved animals, especially cats with her favorite being “Mo-Mo.” She enjoyed the social aspects of Facebook and loved cooking for family, friends, and numerous charities as she was known far and wide for her peanut butter fudge as well as her chocolate cream pies. She especially enjoyed the extremely close bond with her twin sister Carole. Her generosity, thoughtfulness, and her unique sense of humor will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Charles of Rangeley; her children, Clifford “Turtle” Raymond and his wife, Patricia, of Gorham, Christian “Smokey” Raymond and his wife, Sheila, of Rangeley, Craig “Donut” Raymond and his wife, Joanne, of Langtown, Cathy White and her husband, Norman, of Rangeley and Carl “Joe” Raymond of Rangeley, not only his mother, but his closest and best friend, her twin sister, Carole “Grizz” Haley and her husband, George “Huck” of Rangeley, and her sister, Patricia B.
