LIVERMORE FALLS — Teams from several agencies were scanning the Androscoggin River late Thursday after a person was reported in the water near the bridge along Route 4.

Livermore Falls police and rescue crews were at the scene along with deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.

Shortly after 10 p.m.,  a dispatcher said the Maine Warden Service was joining the search, which was focused near the bridge linking Livermore and Livermore Falls.

The search began shortly after nightfall when someone was reported in the river. It was not clear whether the person was believed to have fallen or jumped into the water.
