SCARBOROUGH — Pianist/vocalist/songwriter Marcia Ball will bring her blend of Texas roadhouse boogie and Louisiana swamp blues to The Landing at Pine Point on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Ball, who was born in Texas and raised in Louisiana, is known for her groove-laden New Orleans R&B, heart-wrenching ballads and driving Gulf Coast blues. Her music mixes equal parts simmering soul fervor and rollicking Crescent City piano.

She is touring in support of her Grammy-nominated CD, “Peace, Love and BBQ,” her third to receive a Grammy nomination and her fourth release for Alligator Records. She wrote or co-wrote eight of the 13 songs on the CD, featuring intense ballads, party songs and straight-from-the-heart lyrical storytelling. With guests Dr. John, Wayne Toups, Tracy Nelson and Terrance Simien, the music moves effortlessly through a range of emotions.

Ball has collected seven Blues Music Awards since 2001, including the 2009 Pinetop Perkins Piano Player Of The Year award, and was voted Female Blues Artist Of The Year and Most Outstanding Musician (Piano) in the 2009 Living Blues Readers’ Poll.

She was inducted into the Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame in January of this year.

Tickets to the 8 p.m. concert are $28-$38. Call 774-4527 or visit www.thelandingatpinepoint.com/tickets.html. The Landing is at 353 Pine Point Road.
