DIXFIELD — Friends of Maine’s Mountains and the River Valley Alliance are holding a public meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, on the noise and economic effects of industrial wind projects sited on Maine mountains.

The meeting will be held at Dirigo High School off Weld Street in Dixfield.

Alliance member Dan McKay stated Thursday in a report that Rob Rand of Brunswick, an acoustical engineer, will present the results of his noise studies on two industrial wind developments in Maine.

Additionally, J. Dwight of Wilton, an investment adviser, will present his finding on the economic consequences of industrial wind on electrical costs for Maine’s residential and commercial customers.

Karen Pease will also speak on the impact of wind projects on real estate values.

McKay said presentations will be kept brief to allow time for the presenters to answer questions.
