SOUTH PORTLAND – Brett Hine of Peru and Lauren Adey of Falmouth captured their respective open singles crowns at the 29th-annual Pete Debeboise Tennis Tournament held at South Portland High School. The event was the fourth and final major outdoor event on the Maine Tennis Association summer schedule.

Hine, seeded second, captured the men’s title by edging top seeded Mike Burke of Lewiston, 7-5, 6-3, in the championship match. Hine reached the final by eliminating No. 3 Tim Lacombe of Lewiston 6-0, 6-4, while Burke reached the final by outsing unseeded Justin Tardif of Biddeford, 6-3, 6-4.

Adey, seeded first in the women’s division, beat Maggie Taylor of Yarmouth, 6-1, 6-0, in the championship match.

Burke combined with Emilie Cloutier of Lewiston to capture top honors in mixed doubles by defeating Tyler Adams of Buxton and Polly Colvin Mackenzie of Limington, 6-4, 6-4.
