SOMERSWORTH, N.H. — Martin Leo Guilmette passed away on, Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born on June 26, 1959, in Rochester, N.H., the son of Priscilla (Pepin) Guilmette and the late Leo Paul Guilmette.

He lived in Somersworth his entire life, graduating from Somersworth High School in 1977. Marty was involved with the Somersworth Fire Department from 1976 through 1980. He worked for the Somersworth Post Office for 25 years.

Marty was a lifetime member of the Sons of the Somersworth American Legion Post 69 and was the past Commander of the Sons of the Legion in 1983.

Marty and his wife very much enjoyed their second home at Mac’s Camping Area, in Poland.

Marty is survived by his wife, Janice (McDonald) Guilmette; his mother, Priscilla Guilmette; his daughter, Carrie McDonald of Seattle, Wash.; his sisters, Michelle Neumann, Anne Beaudoin of Somersworth and Claire Rheaume and her husband, Glen, of Rollinsford; his brothers, George Guilmette and wife, Cindy Guilmette, and Ronald Guilmette, both of Somersworth, Doug and Linda Harnden of Portsmouth, N.H., Blaine and Joan McDonald of Homosassa, Fla.; and his father-in-law, George “Mac” McDonald and his wife, Faye, of Poland; many nieces and nephews; as well as great-nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close friends.

He was predeceased by his father in 2004.
