PARIS — The McAlister/McAllister family reunion was held Aug. 8 at the First Baptist Church of Paris on Paris Hill.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Donald Farr.

The flag salute was followed by reading names of family members who have passed away since the last reunion in 2008. As each name was read, a flower was placed in a vase in memory.

There were greetings by Farr, and the secretary and treasurer reports were read and accepted. It was voted to have the next reunion on a Sunday in 2012.

Franklin McAllister and Joyce MacDonald were replaced on the board of trustees by Donnie McAllister and Stephen McAllister, joined by Brenda Wood, Marilyn Jones, Fr. Don McAllister and the current officers.

Election of new officers were as follows: President Donald Farr, Vice President Dawn Tucker, Treasurer Guy McAlister Jr., Secretary Dorene Bartlett.

Prizes were given to the oldest member attending, Robert Stearns, 90; youngest member attending, Chloe Stickney, 2; member traveling the longest distance, Irene Parenteau of Florida.

Nona Farrington won the 50/50 drawing. Door prizes went to Richard McAlister, Nona Farrington and Kay McAlister. Joan Grover won a prize for having the lucky sticker under her chair.

Those speaking at the business meeting were: Richard McAlister’s daughter, Dawn, Carolyn Carter, Marion Howe and Lynn Cummings Pike.

Sid Gordon brought his collection of old picture postcards and pictures for everyone to view. He spoke enthusiastically about his hobby.

The reunion cake was cut and served by Marilyn McAlister Jones.

There were approximately 76 people in attendance. The next reunion will be in 2012, with the location and date to be announced at a later time.
