Robin Bragg, center, president of the Wilton Scholarship Foundation, received a check from the Wilton Academy Class of 1955 at the class banquet held on Aug. 7. Class representatives Erlon Rand, left, and, Francis Egan, right, presented the donation. The foundation was founded in 1964 as a nonprofit organization initiated and supported by the residents of the western part of SAD 9. Scholarships are given to any graduate of Mt. Blue High School who lived in Wilton, Weld, East Wilton, Dryden or East Dixfield at the time of graduation. Every eligible applicant receives a scholarship, based primarily on financial need. Money comes from donations from individuals and businesses, fundraising through an auction and interest from trust funds left to the committee by area residents. All foundation work is done by volunteers.
