LEWISTON — Muriel R. (Lachance) Vachon, 79, a resident of Homefield Street, Lewiston passed away early Friday, Aug. 20, at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Home after a long battle with dementia with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 27, 1931, the daughter of Oliva and Marie Rose (Bolduc) Lachance. She had worked for the Bates Mill for several years followed by 18 years for the Lewiston School Lunch Program, and was also a member of the pastoral care volunteers at Holy Family Church.

Muriel loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as singing and dancing with them. She also enjoyed traveling on bus trips and was an avid volunteer.

Survivors include her husband, Gaston of 57 years; a son, James and his wife, Nancy; daughters, Ann Gagne and husband, Robbie and Nancy Toussaint and husband, Arthur; three grandchildren, Kelly Withers and husband, Scott, Kim Desjardins and husband, Todd, and Madeline Gagne; five great-grandchildren, Izabel, Olivia, and Lillian Desjardins, Samuel and Elizabeth Withers.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Darlene Miller, family friend, Martine Gagne,  and their extended family at Ouellette’s Adult Foster Care Home, Ron, Pat, Donna, and Suzie for their superb care and compassion given to our mother and wife during her final journey.
