100 years ago, 1910

George E. Leadbetter, the druggist, has just installed a fine new soda fountain of the latest and most elaborate type. It is 12 feet long. The woodwork is of golden oak, the metal is German silver, the counter and front is of Italian marble with green Tennessee marble trimmings. The fountain is lighted with electricity and is mounted with a beautiful lamp of inlaid glass. This is one of the finest fountains anywhere in the state.

50 years ago, 1960

A record hop to which all schoolchildren are invited will be held at the Lincoln Street Playground from 7 to 9 o’clock this evening.

Ray Cailler will serve as disc jockey and there will be entertainment by the Royal Knights.

The three playground supervisors, Miss Claire Bolduc, Miss Janice Tardiff and Jack Dubois, are in charge of arrangements.

RUMFORD — “I have had a very good summer and one that was different than what I expected,” said Marnie Nagurski, public relations intern at Boise Cascade.

She is the daughter of Bronco Nagurski, labor relations supervisor at Boise Cascade. Yes, her father did play pro ball, but it is her grandfather who is the best known in pro football with that name.
