SOUTH PARIS — The Rev. Don Mayberry, pastor at First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., has announced that the Rev. Harvey Van Sciver will lead services on Sunday, Aug. 29, while Mayberry is on vacation.
Van Sciver is a retired Methodist pastor from New Jersey with a summer home in Maine. When in Maine, he worships with First Congregational Church and is a favorite substitute worship leader and preacher. This is the last of the summer schedule Sundays, with worship beginning at 9 a.m.
Mayberry will be back on Sunday, Sept. 5, and the choir will return as well. It will also mark the return to the regular worship schedule, beginning at 10 a.m.
The Sunday School Rally Day will be Sunday, Sept. 12, as the Sunday School gets underway for another session. The church offers age appropriate Christian education from preschool to high school. For more information or to preregister, call the church at 743-2437. Preregistration is not required.
