American Folk Festival
Le Vent du Nord of Montreal, above, will bring its rhythmic fiddle style, spirited step dancing and centuries-old songs to Bangor this weekend for the American Folk Festival. The Aug. 27-28-29 event, a celebration of multicultural traditional arts — music, dance, crafts and food — will take place on the waterfront. Also performing will be The Holmes Brothers of Maryland and Virginia, blues, gospel and R&B; Viento de Agua Viento de Agua of Puerto Rico, bomba y plena; Dale Watson of Texas, honky-tonk and country; Linda Lay and Springfield Exit, Winchester, Va., bluegrass and acoustic country; Paddy Keenan, Irish pipes; Rahim AlHaj, Iraqui oud; Kenge Kenge, music of western Kenya; Pine Leaf Boys, Cajun; Pride of Maine Black Bear Marching Band; Noreum Machi, Samui Nori drumming and dances of Korea; The Other European Band, klezmer and gypsy Roma musicians; Dr. Michael White Quartet, New Orleans jazz; Taste of Celtic Colours musicians of Nova Scotia; The Old Grey Goose, old-time country music and songs of Maine and the Maritimes; and Urban Artistry, house dance and break dance.
