NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will host a series of Art Challenges for children in prekindergarten through sixth grade. Participants may choose to work on the challenge individually, in groups or they may ask for help from family members.

The Art Challenge will be ongoing throughout the school year and there will be a new challenge available in the Children’s Room on the first of every month. Once a participant has completed a task, the finished artwork should be returned to the library where it will be on display for the fourth week of each month.

Each art challenge should be submitted with the artist’s name as well as a book that served as the inspiration for the creation. Children who complete all nine challenges during the school year will receive a prize. Each month children will receive a participation certificate congratulating them for meeting the challenge.

In September, the challenge will be available from Wednesday, Sept. 1, through Tuesday, Sept. 13. The library will have a packet of information containing the challenge material, a plastic bag and a registration form with instructions. An example piece of artwork will be on display at the library. Completed art challenges are due on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

The artwork will be on display from Sept. 20 to 27. All are invited to stop in to check out the work done by the children. For more information, contact the Children’s Room at 743-5308.
