LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a strategic business writing workshop with presenter Bruce MacMillan, owner of MacMillan Associates, a professional training and coaching firm. The seminar will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the chamber’s conference room, 415 Lisbon St.
Effective business writing, including e-mails, sales proposals and blogs, can help compel action, change opinions and provide information. The workshop will address the key components of effective business writing. Specifically, attendees will learn how to organize a document so that the reader gets the message quickly and clearly; develop proper tone so that a document creates the appropriate relationship with the reader; use words efficiently, concentrating on words that are strategically important; and apply an e-mail code of conduct so that e-mail is always a professional and beneficial business tool.
