Robert H. ‘Andy’ Andersen

1939 – 2010

LAWTON, Okla. — Robert Henry “Andy” Andersen, 71, was born on June 23, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Frederick V. and Eleanor L. (Morris) Andersen. He died on Aug. 23, at his home in Lawton.

Andy was raised and attended school in Maine. He entered the Army at the age of 17 with his father’s permission. He spent nine years in the U.S. Army, then joined the Air Force and served another 11 years before he retired.

Andy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Kay Cummins, who was his best friend and constant companion; one daughter, Lynna Mize and husband Randy of Lawton; grandchildren, Jared Stokes and Rebecca Stokes of Lawton, and Elizabeth Stokes of Edmond; great-grandchild, Landon “Rascal” Stokes of Lawton; one goddaughter, Sharon McDonald and husband Phil in Connecticut; and two sisters, Beverly Delano and husband Carl and Beatrice Neff, all of Maine.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Barbara Barker and Betty Stevenson; and a brother, Bill Andersen.
