PORTLAND — The Portland Players will present “Seussical, the Musical,” a show featuring songs, silliness and stories from some of Dr. Seuss’ most popular children’s books.

Audiences will meet the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, JoJo, the Grinch and many other characters.

Twenty-eight actors, ages 6 to 40, will present the show on Sept. 10-26. Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 8 p.m.; Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m.

“I always make friends here,” said 6-year-old Maiya Koloski, of Portland. “They do a lot of choreography and I love it.”

“Seussical, the Musical” is the first show in Portland Players’ 80th season. Next up is “Steel Magnolias,” followed by “The Mousetrap,” “A Chorus Line” and “Sideshow.”
