AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has announced that registration for the 2010 youth field hockey program is underway. The program will again take place at the Auburn Middle School, and will run for six weeks.

The program is for girls entering kindergarten through the eighth grade. The Pee Wee Division, kindergarten to grade two, will meet from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 8 to Oct. 13.

The Junior Division, grades three to four, and the Intermediate Division, grades five to eight, will also meet from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesdays. Girls in the Junior and Intermediate divisions will be divided into teams, and will play a schedule of games from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturdays. Games with other field hockey programs may also be arranged. Saturday games will start Sept. 11 and go until Oct. 16.

Players need to provide their own stick, shin guards and mouthpiece. Players should also wear comfortable clothing, dress in layers and bring a water bottle to practices. Cleats are not required.

If interested in registering, volunteering or for more information, stop by the YMCA at 62 Turner St. or contact Josh LaPrell, sports and camp director, at 795-4095 or jlaprell@alymca.org.
