MINOT — Members of the Minot Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the West Minot Grange Hall.

There will be a potluck supper, followed by guest speaker, Carolyn Lawson, who will present a program entitled, “Dress of the Civil War Period.” Lawson is a member of the Third Maine Volunteer Infantry, a Civil War reenactment group. She is also the secretary and treasurer for the Maine Department of the Auxiliary to the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Lawson has been doing living history as a hobby for 14 years, adopting the role of a member of the Maine Camp Hospital Association, which was a soldier’s aid society formed in 1861.

She is a biology lab instructor at Bates College and lives in Auburn. Those attending are asked to bring a casserole, salad or dessert to share. For more information, call Hester Gilpatric at 345-3040.
