The Public Utilities Commission will hold two public hearings in Lewiston Thursday on the issue of local measured telephone service.

Unlike the present telephone billing system, in which callers can make an unlimited number of local calls for a uniform monthly fee, measured service bills each customer according to the number and length of calls made.

Thursday’s hearings will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Lewiston Multi-Purpose Center. Representatives of the PUC will be present to answer questions on the program, which is scheduled to take effect in February 1986.
