LEWISTON – Roopers Sr. Lions and Grimmel’s Gas Up Jr. Giants remain the only undefeated teams in their divisions after the third week of the FLY football season.
Gee & Bee Jr. Redskins won their first game of the year, defeating the American Engraving Jr. Lions.
Grant Hartley, Shane Currier and Jayden Wilson led the Redskins with rushing touchdowns. Along with the touchdowns, the running backs combined with Tanner Cortes and Kenyon Ray for 136 yards on the ground.
Dillion Jones, Donte Lowndes, Damon Gagne, Chandler Coombs, Wilson and Currier made multiple tackles to fuel the defense. Lowndes and Gagne also had fumble recoveries. Austin Heath led the Lions with eight tackles. Brandon Williams made seven stops and Jordyn Rubin five, with Ricky Cote and Miles Teague also providing strong defense.
The Sr. Lions defeated the Sr. Redskins on the strength of 303 total offensive yards. Scores by Isaiah Harris, Desmond Jackson, Dion Jackson, Josh Kobel, Elijah Harris, Nick Harnden and Julian Raines provided the punch. Isaac Cote recovered two fumbles. Mercier blocked a punt.
Jr. Giants defeated Sabattus Disc Golf Jr. Steelers in a tough game. The Giants were led on offense by Caden Begos, Brock Belanger, Kucas Nichols and Dylan Wood, highlighted by a 35 yard TD pass from Belanger to Nichols.
Fumble recoveries by Devin Corliss, Tanner Sturgis and Conner Kaplinger helped the cause along with a strong defensive game by Thomas Brochu, Keegan Voss and Brandon Dube. Cruz Poirier and Garrett Poussard had touchdowns for the Steelers. Terrell and Latrell Thomas and Tristan Colby led the Steelers’ defense. Mike Greene recovered a fumble.
The Giants defeated the Easy Rent All Steelers in the second senior contest. Quintarian Brown and Zach Abisalih had multiple touchdowns both offensively and defensively to lead the scoring for the Giants. The offensive line of Devin Lavoie, Kody Voisine, Chris Dillingham, Noah Jalbert and Nate Osgood provided the blocking. Defensive standouts were Isaiah Brisbane and Josh Knight.
Kohl’s Vikings defeated Gridiron Eagles in the first-ever Pee Wee tackle game for Lewiston FLY. Tyson Green provided the only score in the game.
