LIVERMORE FALLS — Organizers of the Apple Pumpkin Festival have lots in store for those attending the annual event Saturday at the Livermore Falls Recreation Field.
There will be free activities for the children at booths, along with demonstrations, vendors, exhibits, music and food throughout the day.
Last year more than 4,000 visitors turned out for festival. This year organizers are hoping to top it.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the field on Foundry Road, which is behind the municipal building. For more information check out www.applepumpkinfestival.org
There will be one-way traffic down the road with no parking on the left side to routes 17 and 133.
Among the events planned are demonstrations by United Fitness & Martial Arts, Livermore Falls Fire Department vehicle extrication, a toilet seat toss by Riverview Plumbing & Heating. Many exhibits will be on display, including a shoe trailer from Pine Tree Orthopedic Lab & Foot Care Center and Pellet and Wood Stoves from Don’s Stove Shop.
Musicians are scheduled to perform throughout the day on two stages. There will also be free face painting and pumpkin painting, handmade jewelry, and lots of food, including smoked baby back ribs, lobster rolls, meatball subs, chili, gourmet fudge and homemade donuts.
The Tiger Slide is back along with the Bounce House, Climbing Wall and the Rat Race.
New this year is bungee jumping on a trampoline.
Maine’s Paper and Heritage Museum on Church Street will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tours.
Bakers are busy making apple and pumpkin pies for the baking contest. There will also be an annual book sale at Treat Memorial Library on Main Street in Livermore Falls and a Harvest Supper from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose Parish Hall on Church Street in Jay.
Free parking will be offered in lots on Main Street and Church Street and at Murray Hall on Main Street, Schoolhouse Commons and the First Baptist Church on Church Street, and the parking lot between Group Adams Propane and Applied Technologies on Depot Street. There will be signs indicating the free parking.
