Worship service

SOUTH PARIS — Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Oct. 10, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St. Her sermon topic will be “Unashamed Workers,” during which she will discuss “being faithful and how to tell you are.”

The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, organist and the Sunday School will be lead by Renee Wales. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Legion craft fair

SOUTH PARIS — The American Legion Auxiliary will host its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Legion Hall on Church Street. The lunch counter will serve homemade pastries, sandwiches, hot dogs and corn chowder.

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 1 at the Recreation Building on King Street.

Finishing first in flight A n/s were Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird, also first in flight B; second in flight A, Hazel Glazier and Kathy Feld, also second in flight B; third in A were Richard Allen and Les Buzzell.

Finishing third in flight B were Jim Krainin and Milton McKeen, also first in flight C. Finishing first in flight A e/w were Penny and Bob Thomas, also first in flight B; second in flight A, Lucille Theriault and Richard Balian; third, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.

Finishing second in flight B were Helen Kenison and Carol Coreard, also first in flight C. Another game will be played at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8. All bridge players are invited and a partner is guaranteed.

Heywood Club

NORWAY — The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the clubhouse. Dues of $10 will be collected. Refreshments will be pumpkin pie, mulled cider and there will be light entertainment.

AARP meeting

SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, Oct. 11, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street. Lunch, at noon, will be chicken and macaroni and cheese.

The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon on Friday, Oct. 8. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m.., followed by Joyce Stevens leading a demonstration of simple yoga done in chairs. She will conclude with a period of meditation.
