AUBURN — Joan H. Moors, 80, a longtime Auburn resident of Park Avenue, died at the Hospice House on Oct. 27.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1930, in Auburn, the daughter of Lauren and Ruth Harlow. Joan’s mother died when she was 9 and after her father’s remarriage when she was a young woman, she became the stepdaughter of Anna Harlow.

Marriage, family and home were the center of Joan’s life. Over her lifetime, she worked in a number of office positions, but her focus was always on her husband, Russ, and her family. She was, along with Russ, a very active member of the Maine Iris Society and the Maine Hosta Society for many years. Among the joys of her latter years were scenic rides with Russ, the pleasures of their beautiful garden, the companionship of her much-loved little dog, and time spent with family and friends.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Russell B. Moors; their four children, Lynelle Philbrick and her husband, Daniel Philbrick, Shawn Moors, Terrance Moors and Faylene Macko and her husband, Stephen Macko; five grandchildren, Rebekah Macko, Nikolas Macko, Christopher Macko, Kelsey Philbrick and Katie Philbrick.

Our family would like to thank Dr. James Joseph and his associates for their care of Joan. We are forever grateful for the care she received at Hospice House and Androscoggin Home Hospice.

Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Cherished memories of her will be with us forever.
