PARIS — The SAD 17 school board, the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club and the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Student Council honored Marsha Wood as November Staff Member of the Month recently at a school board meeting.
Wood is a fourth-grade teacher at Guy Rowe Elementary School. She was nominated in 2008 and again in 2010.
Gretchen Fleming, a colleague, said, “Marsha works hard to make her classroom a true community where students feel valued and loved. She encourages them to work hard. And they want to. The standards that Marsha sets for her students are high and she gets results. Years later her students e-mail her, come back to visit, and remember her as a teacher who touched their lives.”
Wood was also honored by the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club at the Dec. 2 luncheon meeting. She received $100 from the Student Council and her name has been added to the plaque sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Norway-Paris.
This is the 11th year of the Staff Member of the Month Program in partnership with the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club and the 10th year of the Student Council’s support of the program. Maureen Howard, director of the Oxford Hills Education Exchange, coordinates the program.
