AUBURN — Senior forward Kolby Arnold and sophomore forward Tyler Lafreniere scored a pair of goals each as Poland-Gray New Gloucester skated to an 8-2 victory over Bonny Eagle in the 17th annaul Gippers Holiday Classic at Ingersoll Arena on Friday.

The Patriotic Knights (2-0) scored eight unanswered goals through three periods before the Scots (1-2) managed a pair of back-to-back tallies from senior center Sean Walsh to spoil the shutout.

Sean Mayer provided three assists for Poland/Gray-New Gloucester.

The Patriotic Knights were excellent on special teams, scoring two short-handed goals and three power plays for a winning effort.

Edward Little 4, Leavitt 3

AUBURN — Junior forward Jared Pelletier notched the eventual game-winning goal late in the second period on a power play to lift Edward Little to a 4-3 victory over Leavitt in the 17th Annual Gippers Holiday Classic Friday evening.

Senior forward Max Cloutier notched the game’s opening goal for the Hornets (1-2).

The Red Eddies (2-1) either trailed or evened up the score on three ocassions until Pelletier’s go-ahead tally that came on a feed from senior forward Cody Russell. All four of Edward Little’s goal came in the second period.

Basketball

Elan 56, A.R. Gould 35

SOUTH PORTLAND — Elan ended A.R. Gould’s two-year regular-season unbetaen streak at 14 games with a resounding 56-35 triumph Friday in a Class D boys’ basketball game.

A.R. Gould led 13-10 after one quarter, but ran out of gas in the second period when Elan’s pressure led to a 17-8 run in the period that was extended to 35-15 through the end of the third quarter.

A.R. Gould (2-1) only had six players, of which just three scored. George Hopkins scored a game-high 20 points and Jacob Cary added 12 points.

Jack Peters sparked Elan (3-0) with 18 points and seven assists, while Colin McNeil had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Maliki Nunn also had 10 points for Elan,

Oxf. Hills 53, Erskine 40

SOUTH PARIS — Junior guard Brian Lynch and junior forward Deric Hanscom drained 12 points apiece as Oxford Hills breezed to a 53-40 victory over Erskine Academy.

The Vikings (2-1) jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Eagles (0-3) managed to post a score. Josh MacDonald recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four assists.

Erskine trailed 13-3 after the first quarter, and played even with 12 points in the second frame.

Sophomore point gaurd Devin Duncan shot two field goals and two from the charity stripe for seven points, while junior guard Tom Grady piloted three field goals and a free throw for seven points in the losing effort.

Lewiston 46, Morse 26

BATH — Lewiston built a 22-15 lead at halftime and held Morse to just 1o points in the second half as the Blue Devils dispatched Morse with a 46-26 victory in a boys’ basketball game Friday night.

Steven Patrie was the only double-digit scorer in the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Cody Mousseau had seven points and put down a pair of 3-pointers.

Lewiston remains undefeated at 3-0, while the Shipbuilders fell to 0-3.

Everett Moye scored the team-high seven points for Morse.

Lincoln 64, Oak Hill 32

NEWCASTLE — Lincoln netted 20 points in each of the first two periods running out to a 40-14 halftime lead and never looked back doubling up Oak Hill 64-32 in boys hoops action.

Brandon Riley led all scorers with 16 points for Lincoln (1-2). Riley also tossed in a pair of 3-pointers in the win. Everett Martin chipped in with 12 points. Cam Morin led Oak Hill (0-3) with nine points including one from behind the arc.
