LEWSITON — Jean Barrington, 85, died Monday, Jan. 3, at the home of her son, Walter Barrington on Rejane Avenue, Lewiston. She was a resident of Erchles Street in Rumford.

She was born in Rumford, April 22, 1925, a daughter of the late David and Jessie (Goodfellow) Gilmour. She was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1943, and also graduated from Burdett College in Boston, Mass., Class of 1945. She worked at the Rumford High School as manager of the lunch program.

She was a member of Rumford United Methodist Church, the church choir, the church Belles, Evening Guild and the United Methodist Women’s Club. She enjoyed quilting, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hats and loved a good adventure on the road.

She was married in Boston, Mass. on Nov. 25, 1944 to Walter Barrington Sr., who died in Rumford on April 11, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Walter D. “Chick” Barrington and his wife, Linda, of Lewiston; a daughter, Ann Thompkins of Rumford; grandchildren, Scott Barrington of West Palm Beach, Fla., Philip Barrington and his wife, Emily, of Hampden, Christina Martineau and her husband, Normand, of Greene and Rachel Hutchinson and her husband, Isaac, of Lewiston; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kelsey, Emma, Samantha, Eve, Lily, Fiona, Liam, Daniel and Ivey; and a brother, James Gilmour and his wife, Phyllis, of Mesa, Ariz.

She was predeceased by her husband; a son, David; and granddaughter, Jessica.
