LEWISTON — Benoit “Ben” G. Bell Jr., 78, of Lewiston passed away at his residence Jan. 12.

He was born in Van Buren, Dec. 10, 1932, a son of the late Benoit and Alia (LeBell) Bell.

Ben served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He owned and operated Bells Drywall until his retirement. He also worked as a millwright and for Bath Iron Works. He was a member of the No. 407 Carpenter’s Union. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Therrien) Bell of Lewiston; his three children, Steven Bell and Gregory Bell, both of Lewiston and Marlene Whitman of Lisbon; two grandchildren, Randi and Kyle Whitman, both of Lisbon; his eight siblings, Lucille LaFrance, Terry Bryant, Donald Bell and his wife, Judy, Kenneth Bell, Reno Bell, Hilda Tanguay, Herbert Bell and his wife, Carol and Norman Bell and his wife, Joline; Ben also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ben was predeceased by his siblings, Fern, Gil, Thelma and Annette.
