WINTHROP — Nikki Scott led a well-balancd offense with 12 points and Winthrop’s defense held Lisbon to single-digit scoring for three quarters as the Ramblers (5-5) toppled the Greyhounds (3-7) with a 40-3o victory in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.
By halftime, Winthrop took a 21-11 lead and cruised the rest of the way. For Lisbon, Alex Harmon scored 10 points.
Rangeley 54, Forest Hills 26
JACKMAN — Emily Carrier piled up 20 points, which included three 3-pointers, and was credited with five steals and assists as Rangeley reeled in Forest Hills with a 54-26 victory in a girls’ basketball game Friday night.
The Lakers (8-3) built a 24-12 lead at halftime. Jenney Abbott had 10 rebounds for Rangeley, which scored 20 points in the third quarter.
For Forest Hills, Danna McNally scored 11 points.
Edward Little 56, Erskine 32
SOUTH CHINA — Edward Little raced out to a 22-6 advantage in the opening quarter and didn’t let up as the Red Eddies rolled to a 56-32 victory over Erskine in a KVAC girls’ basketball clash.
Freshman guard Kory Norcross led all scorers with a game-high 14 points for Edward Little (9-1). Norcross also sank two 3-pointers in the victory. Ashlee Arnold also hit a pair of 3-point baskets en-route to 13 points for the Red Eddies. Frankie Lally and Kate Sawyer each registered eights points in the victory.
Kaitlyn Honea led the Eagles (2-8) with nine points.
Messalonskee 52, Mt. Blue 34
OAKLAND — The Messalonskee girls basketball team jumped out to a 27-12 halftime advantage and cruised to a 52-34 victory over Mt. Blue.
Megan Pelletier dumped in a game high 20 points pacing the Eagles (6-4). Mary Bodeen chipped in with 17 points including a trio of 3-pointers.
Miranda Nicely paced the Mt. Blue (2-8) with 14 points. Gabby Foye followed with eight points in the loss.
Carrabec 63, Telstar 27
BETHEL — Melissa White ensnared 19 points to lead Carrabec to a 63-27 rout over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Cobras padded a 31-15 halftime lead with a 24-10 explosion in the third frame. Jocelyn Jackson provided 10 points for Carrabec.
The Rebels rendered a limited offense as Emma Davis scored 11 points amd Cheyanne Day drained five baskets for 10 points.
Cony 66, Lewiston 23
AUGUSTA — Junior guard Mia Diplock nailed down 18 points as Cony trounced Lewiston 66-23 in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.
The Rams thrusted their way to a 40-10 halftime lead. Crystal Clark posted 12 points, while Kasey Lee added 11 points for Cony.
Sophomore guard Kelsey Dumond tossed a team-high seven points on three field goals, including one from 3-point range, for Lewiston in the losing effort.
Brunswick 48, Oxford Hills 30
BRUNSWICK — Brunswick bolted out to a 24-11 halftime lead and nine different players registered in scoring column as the Dragons down Oxford Hills 48-30 in a KVAC girls’ basketball game.
Becky Champagne led all scorers with 13 points. Tiana Burton scored all nine of her points with three first half three pointers for the Dragons (7-4). Lydia Caputi chipped in with seven points.
Sophomore Alex Rowe paced the Vikings (4-8) with eight points in the loss.
