LEWISTON — Jeannine Marie Claire Lizotte, 79, formerly of 16 Walnut St. in Auburn, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 16, at d’Youville Pavilion, with family at her side.

She was born in Thetford Mines P.Q., Canada April 14, 1931, a daughter of Joseph and Alexina (Asselin) Bernatchez. On July 2, 1955, she was married in Canada to Normand O. Lizotte. Shortly thereafter, they settled together in Auburn to raise their family. He predeceased her on March 23, 2010. Mrs. Lizotte worked for many years as a housekeeper at the former Grandview Nursing Home in Auburn until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Phillips Church, and among her favorite enjoyments were spending quality time with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandson. She was a very good cook and enjoyed doing so for family and friends. She was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

She leaves three daughters, Anne D’Amour and husband, Marc, of Lewiston, Suzanne Clark and husband, Mark, of Auburn, and Jeannette Manley and fiance, Cy Hill, of Auburn; a son, Michael Lizotte of Auburn; five grandchildren, Jessica and Joshua D’Amour and Candace, Cassandra and Chelsea Manley; her great-grandson Aiden Morrison; one sister, Gisele Lizotte, of Chicopee, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank-you to all the staff on the third floor, east wing at d’Youville Pavilion for their love, patience and gentle care shown to Jeannine while a resident there.

She was predeceased by a sister, Monique Lachance; and four brothers, Raymond, Robert, Renee and Laurent Bernatchez.
