GREENFIELD, Mass. — The Rev. Ehrmann B. Bennett, 89, of Greenfield, Mass., died Sunday, Jan. 16, after a prolonged illness.

He was born in Denver, Colo., Jan. 7, 1922, son of the late Thomas Benton Bennett and Margaret (Ehrmann) Bennett of Gering, Neb. On July 18, 1959, he married Fay E. Hunting of New Salem, Mass.

He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield, Vt., on Sept. 7, 1951, and served that church for nine years. This was followed by assignments at First Baptist Church of Fair Haven, Vt., and the nearby Hydeville Baptist Church, the First Baptist Church of Freeport, and finally the Pine Street Baptist Church of Milford, Mass., from which he retired in the spring of 1987. He then moved to a retirement home in Durham, where he continued to serve in a number of churches as interim pastor.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Fay; three daughters, Marcia Bennett-LaPlante, Lola Bennett and Karla Burkitt; and six grandchildren.
