NORWAY — A Norway man was charged last week with unlawful sexual touching against a 9-year-old girl.

Robert C. Minnerly, 65, of 17 Everett Drive, was charged with unlawful sexual touching and unlawful sexual contact, both Class D offenses.

According to Detective Gary Hill of the Norway Police Department, the alleged victim lived near Minnerly at one time. He said in December, she reported the crime, which is alleged to have happened in August.

Since then, Hill said he and the District Attorney’s Office built a case against Minnerly, but said it’s too early to say what evidence he had collected.

Minnerly was arrested by Norway police officer Holli Pullen at 9 p.m. on Jan. 13 and bailed out for $500. Minnerly is not allowed to have contact with girls under the age of 16.

If convicted, he could face up to 364 days and a fine of up to $2,000 for each offense and would be added to the sex offender registry.
