FARMINGTON — University of Maine at Farmington President Theodora J. Kalikow announces the recent appointment of Jamie E. Marcus as the university’s new director of admission.

Marcus comes to UMF with more than 15 years of experience in higher education, serving for the last 10 years in admission at colleges with high-quality, student-centered public liberal arts missions similar to UMF.

In his new role as a senior member of the UMF Division of Enrollment Management and Marketing, Marcus oversees the UMF admission operation, including all undergraduate recruitment and admission efforts. This key leadership position is responsible for developing communications and marketing plans to cultivate positive relationships with prospective students and their families, improving services to students and working collaboratively with staff and faculty to advance the university’s admission efforts.

Marcus most recently served as the director of enrollment at New College of Florida in Sarasota, where he supervised their enrollment team, created an applicant to enrollee communication plan and represented the college with the Florida state university system. In addition, he served as a regional marketing manager and helped evaluate and select candidates for admission to the college.

He enjoys many fitness activities, having run several half-marathons, and is looking forward to many of Maine’s four-season recreational opportunities. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in English, cum laude; and a master of arts degree in higher education/college student personnel from the University of Connecticut.
