RANGELEY (AP) — Hundreds of snowmobilers are braving the single-digit temperatures to attend the annual “Snodeo” event in Rangeley.
Snowmobile operators participated in several showcase events on Saturday, the final day of the three-day event. One fulfilled the need for speed with snowmobile operators seeing how fast they can go on frozen Rangeley Lake. Last year, one snowmobile was clocked at 130.3 mph. This year was still pretty fast at 113 mph.
The other, the Rave X freestyle event, featured snowmobiler operators showing off their tricks and aerial stunts while jumping off ramps.
The event capped off late Saturday afternoon with a snowmobile parade, awards presentation and fireworks.
