LEWISTON — Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will start another six-week dog obedience class Wednesday, Jan. 26, in Lewiston. Dogs and puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated. Beginners’ class is at 6:30 P.M. and advanced at 7:30. For more information and to register, call the club’s trainer, Diane Harrington, at 784-7578.

Chamber choir

AUBURN — Founded in 2010 by Christopher G Keene, the Auburn Community Chamber Choir will have its first rehearsal of 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

The ACCC is open to all who wish to sing, with a wide range of ages and abilities are represented. They meet once a week to sing together and work on improving as individual musicians, as well as learning songs to be performed at the end of the season.

NARFE speaker

LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Ramada Inn. A social time will be followed by lunch at noon.

Speaker will be Lorraine Noel, NARFE federation president from Augusta. She will discuss changes of interest at the state and federal levels and give a report from the national convention.

After her talk, there will be a business meeting. Plans for the meeting were made at a board meeting attended by Richard St. Amand, Doris Hamel and Martha Robinson.

Vi Dumais was honored at a recent meeting for her 30-plus years as founder and committee member. She was presented a framed certificate of appreciation and recognition of her personal commitment to the local chapter. For more information about the group, visit www.NARFE.org.

Earns honors

NEW GLOUCESTER — Garrett A. Van Wie, grade 12, of New Gloucester, has earned honors for the fall term at Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H. His parents are David A. Van Wie and Cheryl Bascomb.
