Benefit supper
PARIS — A bean supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., South Paris. Tickets are $7 for adults; $3, children. Proceeds will benefit fire victims. For more information, call 743-2437.
Sunday service
PARIS — Merry Shore will lead the Sunday, Jan. 30, worship service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris. Her sermon topic at the 10 a.m. service will be “A Life of Service.” Forest Perkins will direct the music and Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Talent showcase
BERLIN, N.H. — St. Kieran Arts Center will open the new arts series at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, with the sixth annual North Country Talent Showcase and a new historic exhibition celebrating the Centennial of the Week’s Act.
The talent showcase will feature more than 60 local artists singing, dancing and making music. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for students, with all proceeds to benefit the Arts Center’s Program Fund.

Foodmobile visit
BUCKFIELD — The Good Shepherd Foodmobile will be at the Buckfield Municipal Building parking lot from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1. The foodmobile will service Buckfield, Hartford and Turner. Anyone who needs food is welcome.
Knitters to meet
PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at the First Congregational Church in South Paris. It will be problem-solving meeting. Members are asked to bring a dressed teddy bear or some other animal as a Valentine gift to a child.
If there is no school because of a storm, there will be no meeting.
Learn to sew
NORWAY — The Norway Memorial Library will hold a Learn to Sew program for third through sixth graders from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 3, 10 and 17. Preregistration is required.
Children will learn the basics of hand sewing. Each week they will learn a different stitch that will be used to complete a small sewing project. Week one they will make a small hanging octopus; week two, felt pencil cases; and week three, small stuffed animal.
Previous sewing experience is not necessary, and there will be an instructor and helpers to assist the children.

Benefit supper
OXFORD — A benefit supper for Randy and Tonya Young will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Grace Fellowship Church, Poplar Street.
The meal will consist of beans, assorted casseroles, hot dogs, brown bread, biscuits, coleslaw, pies and beverages. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for kids 12 and under. For more information, contact Pastor Richard Parsons at 539-9064.

PARIS — There will be a pork roast supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St., South Paris. Cost will be $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. There is parking behind the library and town office.
