LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will be offering American Red Cross lifeguard training. The classes will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 5, from 1 to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This course teaches students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent, and if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. This course includes American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.
Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.
Members of the YWCA pay $225 for the four week session and non-members pay $250. Space is limited and registrations need to be in by Feb. 4.
