AUBURN — Bruce L. Wood Sr., 70, of Ballpark Road, Sabattus, died Thursday, Feb. 3, with his family at his side at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 19, 1940, a son of the late Frank and Iva (Burgess) Wood Sr. He graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1959.

Bruce married the love of his life, Dawn on Dec. 8, 1962. He worked for Salter Corp. as a carpenter and later retired from the maintenance department of Bates College.

Bruce enjoyed spending time on his boat on Richardson Lake fishing and camping with his wife and grandchildren. Bruce also loved hunting. Bruce spent many hours restoring old cars with his sons.

His family was his life, he enjoyed many family gatherings, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to seeing them as often as possible.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Dawn of Sabattus; two sons, Bruce L. Wood Jr. and his wife, Kerry, of Sabattus and Michael Wood and his wife, Sarah, of Buckfield; a daughter, Heidi Spencer of Sabattus; three brothers, Frank Wood Jr. of Gray, James Wood and his wife, Louise, of Sabattus and Walter Wood and his wife, Joan, of Sabattus; four sisters, Ruth Wheeler of Sabattus, Judith Chateauvert and her husband, Conrad, of Greene, Julia Shnur and her husband, Morris, of Sabattus and Joan Tancrel and her husband, Jerry, of Sabattus; eight very special grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
