JAY — Two men face six charges each in connection with stolen scrap metal, Detective Richard Caton IV said Friday.

Jason Reckards, 30, of Livermore Falls and Joshua Allen, 26, of New Sharon were each issued six summonses Thursday on charges of felony theft and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, criminal trespass, violating condition of release and two counts of criminal attempt of theft, Caton said.

The metal items, including a plow blade, plow tools and a rototiller, were taken from two properties on Macomber Hill Road between the end of December and end of January. One property was hit twice, Caton said.

The ongoing investigation includes other reports of stolen scrap metal, he said.

Police are also interested in hearing from people who may have had metal stolen from their properties. They are asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6776.

The men are scheduled to appear April 22 at Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington.

Some of the scrap metal has been recovered, Sgt. Troy Young said.
