AUGUSTA — A 32-year-old Maine woman is going to jail for seven months for having sex with a 14-year-old friend of her son.
Melissa Gagne of Winslow was sentenced Wednesday in Kennebec County Superior Court. She pleaded guilty last month to two charges of sexual abuse of a minor for incidents in her home last June and July.
According to the Kennebec Journal, Gagne cried throughout her sentencing hearing and apologized. She told the judge she was humiliated and was wrong for her actions.
After serving her jail term, Gagne will be on probation for two years and will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
